Corduroy Fall & Winter Fashion Trend: How to Wear!

Hello girls!

Today's blog post & my new fashion video are about the CORDUROY fashion trend for Fall (Autumn) & Winter 2011./12.

What is corduroy?

Corduroy is a textile composed of twisted fibers that, when woven, lie parallel (similar to twill) to one another to form the cloth's distinct pattern, a "cord." Modern corduroy is most commonly composed of tufted cords, sometimes exhibiting a channel (bare to the base fabric) between the tufts. Corduroy is, in essence, a ridged form of velvet.

I already had in my wardrobe, several different clothing items made out of the corduroy, so I was very pleased when I realized it's back in trend!
I can wear my old clothes and be in the latest trend, without having to spend money buying new clothes!
I will probably just "refresh" the clothes by accessorizing them with my new accessories that I bought this season :)
I also have some corduroy material clothes back home in my old wardrobe in Croatia, so on my next trip home I'll have to remember to bring some of those clothes back to Italy with me :)
I do miss now my corduroy trench coat and cute corduroy hats!
I feel I just NEED to have them right now in my wardrobe in Italy, lol!
But still, here I do have my "vintage looking", military green pants from River Island, grey blazer type jacket by Diesel and my three quarter length brown pants from Vero Moda :)
These are definitely among my favourite fashion stores and the quality of the clothes confirms that!
I've had those pieces in my wardrobe for six years or more and they're still in the perfect condition and I can wear them now as if they were brand new! :)
If you'd like to see those items, definitely check out my video, where I'm showing you these pieces and talking more "in debth" about them:

Here I'm also presenting you my OOTD with my three quarter length corduroy pants from Vero Moda that I bought while I was still living & working in Croatia!

& here are a few pics of this look:

MILITARY STYLE GILET: Italian Open Market
WOOL SWEATER: Diesel
OFF WHITE CAMI WITH LACE DETAILS: Tzenis
CORDUROY BROWN THREE QUARTER LENGTH PANTS: Vero Moda
BOOTS: Deichmann
HERMES STYLE BAG: Italian Open Market
SUNNIES: H&M

COCONUT WATCH: Souvenier from my summer vacations in Sardinia
GOLD CHAIN BRACELET: B-deas Jewellery

If you have some old clothes made out of corduroy material, now is the time to pull them out of your closet, revaluate them & start wearing them again! :)
& You'll be IN STYLE ;)

Sonja's Outfit Ideas: Houndstooth High Waisted Shorts

Hello lovelies!

I hope everyone had a beautiful weekend!
Mine was very busy, but today I'm relaxing :)
As I'm writing these lines, I have my hair soaked in the lineseed oil hair mask & in a bit I'll be taking a shower & than dedicating the rest of the afternoon for myself, doing at home manicure, pedicure & all that good stuff! :)
I believe that after a hard work, it is extremely important to dedicate a bit of time to just pampering & treating yourself well, it just makes you feel, and look better & completely stress free :)
Wouldn't you agree with me on that? ;)

On the other topic, I just downloaded a trial version of a new editing programe, the Corel Video Studio Pro X4...
I was really excited to try it out, because I want to make my videos a bit more interesting for you guys, and a professional editing programe certainly offers a lot of possibilities to do so...but it turns out I don't understand how the heck to use it and I don't have any patience to try to learn it ughhhh!!!
I went back to my good, old, simple Windows Live Movie Maker and I'll be waiting for my hubby to master the new editing programe and then shows me how to do it!
Hopefully he'll have time free to do so before my trial version expires, lol!
When I first started my channel, I didn't even know how to transfer the video I filmed, from my camera to my computer, go figure!
And the editing programe was something covered in a veil of mystery to me... LOL
On my old laptop, my hubby patiently taught me how to use Windows Movie Maker, and then, with my new laptop came the Windows Live, which is even easier to use!
I do want to use a professional editing programe to "spice up" my vids a bit, but I believe I'll have to be patient enough to try to learn how to use it!

Anyway, back on topic....(!!) Houndstooth High Waisted Shorts...
I got this clothing item a few weeks ago, when I went thrifting (again!!) with my friend Liley.
I was really excited to find this exact model (high waisted) and this exact pattern (houndstooth) because it's definitely a part of the biggest trends for Fall/Winter 2011/12.
I saw a very similar model currently selling at H&M for cca 25- 35 € (not sure exactly!).
And my pair seems brand new, hardly ever worn, yet I got it for only 1€ !!!
I made a styling around this pair of shorts (I love wearing shorts in the Fall, actually!) and my hubby & I filmed a short OOTD video while I was in Croatia past week, visiting my family in the occasion of the Day of the Dead.
We went together with my granny to bring flowers and light the candles to the graves of all our beloved ones who are no longer with us (in Croatia this is a tradition for the Day of the Dead).
This is why we went to the mountain region of Croatia, Gorski kotar, just 45 km from my hometown Rijeka.
Delnice is a small town in the mountains of Gorski kotar and this is where my "roots" are.
Almost all the members of my family were born there!

My hubby took a pic of my granny & me in Delnice:

"Back to my roots"...
picking out flowers with my granny, for all our beloved ones who are no longer with us,
and especially for my beloved Grandfather Aleksandar, who left us too soon, back in 1993. :(

My "second Mum", my granny Zorica ♥

You can watch my short OOTD video that we filmed just before heading to Delnice:

& here are a few pics of the outfit...

Fall OOTD Inspiration: Poncho, Peggings, Military Style Boots ♥

Hello girls!

This has been the most beautiful Fall since I can remember! Warm & sunny, not too cold, just as I like it :)
I went to Croatia the other day, it was just a quick visit to my family.
As the 01.November. we celebrate the Day of the Dead, my family always goes to light candles & bring the flowers to our beloved ones who are no longer with us.
That's why I really wanted to be in Croatia on that day.
My hubby & I took this short trip on Sunday, 30. October, and this is what I was wearing for my trip:

The colour of my purse matches the colour of the nature in the Fall season!

Poncho: Bought in Croatia, years ago.
Peggings: Italian Open Market
Grey V-neck sweater: H&M (L.O.G.G.)
Basic black tank top: Jennifer

Doxa vintage watch that belonged to my Grandfather.
Random selection of bracelets from 1€uro store.
Thrifted snakeskin print belt.
Long feather necklace: H&M (divided)

"Hermes Style" red bag: Italian open market
Military Style boots: "Imaty's Fashion Factory" boutique in Italy.

I have decided to wear my green poncho, that I bought some time ago in Croatia (I'm pretty sure it was while I was still living there!).
I rarely wear ponchos, not because I don't like them, because I do, but because the weather here is usually or too warm, or too cold to be wearing them!
There just wasn't that nice transitional period of time (summer-into-fall, fall-into-winter and so on...) for such a long time!
I really missed that!
For the longest time, the seasons were basically changing in a way that you had to "jump" from wearing a short sleeves, to a wool coat and vice versa! No good :(
And as far as poncho goes, it is a clothing item that definitely adds volume, so it never looks good when I try to wear a coat on top of it! It just looks and feels too bulky!
Wouldn't you agree with me on that?
Now, the question of the day was:  "To belt a poncho, or not to belt a poncho?" ;)
I add a thin, snakeskin print belt on top of my poncho and I actually liked it better that way, than without a belt.
My hubby, however had a different opinion, he thinks belted poncho doesn't look good!
I still wore it belted, haha!
;)
But I'd like to hear your opinion on this!
Was belting a poncho a good idea?

Have a beautiful day, ♥ from Italy,
xx Sonja

Update On My New Fashion & Style Videos!

Hello girls!

This blog post is going  to be just a quick update on what's new on my youtube channels!

For all you fashionistas, I have a three new fashion videos up!
(make up & product reviews are coming up soon, I won't be neglecting that aspect of my channel!)

So let's start with my "Fashion Diary" channel, MissFashionKitty

I have a quick OOTD video there... a casual OOTD with a twist! ;) (feat. my suede like red heeled booties by Francesco Milano, that I thrifted a couple of years ago, for only 2 €, but they were brand new!)
Finally, I found an occasion to wear this: For a casual afternoon & shopping with my friend :)

Watch this OOTD HERE!

Next, on my eipysgudps channel I have two new fashion videos:

In this video I'm showing you some of my latest purchases from H&M, featuring the high waist trend, lace trend & more!)
♫ ♫ ♫

& then, I made a video on how to wear/ style peggings!
"...Peggings are just like jeggings except they are not of the jean material. They are pant/leggings and they are the new thing..."

I recently bought two pairs at italian open market.
First I got a pair of dark grey ones, they cost me only 3€! They felt extremely comfy & I noticed I can style them with everything, so I went back for another pair, this time a simple black!

How I styled my peggings?

& here are some of my favourite booties & flats that I used in my videos to create different outfits/ stylings:

Cute ballet flats with bow decorations by "Best Shoes".

Brown, lace-up booties by "Just Women".

Grey, slouch booties from "Imaty's Fashion Factory" store.

Suede- like, black high heeled booties by "Luna Roja".

I hope my new video will give you some nice outfit inspirations :)

♥ from Italy,

xx Sonja
