All that you wanted to know about the hair extensions!

Hi guys!

This post is going to be a bit different from my past (ootd) posts, because I have received lots of questions regarding my hair & hair extensions.

So in this post I wanted to answer to all of your questions and give you some of my recommendations for the best hair extensions!

Now, to answer the first question, yes, I sometimes wear hair extensions in my videos / photos (see the pic above).

No, I don't wear hair extensions on a daily basis, because my hair is naturally quite long!

(in fact, if you compare the first pic where I have my hair extensions put in, and the second pic, where I don't have any hair extensions, you'll notice that the difference is quite small actually!)

Why do I sometimes wear hair extensions?

First of all, because I like to add an extra volume to my hair (the hair extensions that I have are pretty much the same length as my natural hair, maybe just a tad bit longer, so they don't add that much to the length...)

I love super thick, voluminous hair, especially when I want to play with different hair styles, or when I want to wear a super thick braid, or a fishtail!

My first set of hair extensions came from a wholesale virgin hair supplier who wanted to promote their business by sending me their products to showcase in my videos and review in my blog posts!

I had never wore hair extensions before, so I thought I'd give it a try and see what's it all about!

Luckily, the hair that I got was actually a great quality, 100% human hair, it felt so soft & silky to the touch, and because those were clip-in hair extensions, it was really easy to clip them in & take them out!

How to choose the right colour?

If you're buying your hair extensions on-line, you'll probably get better deal than if you were to purchase them in your local beauty/ hair supplies store, but picking out the right shade that will perfectly match your hair colour might be a little bit tricky!

The web stores will have a colour chart, so make sure to study it carefully, and, if you have any doubts/ questions, don't hesitate to contact the customer's service, after all, they're here to help you out!

As my hair is highlighted, and I actually have more than just only one shade of blonde/brown, it was easier for me to pick out the colour of the hair extensions that would perfectly blend with my hair colour (I always went for the highlighted hair extensions, with more than only one colour, so I was sure it would blend in with my hair!)

Where to buy hair extensions?

There are so many different places that you can get your hair extensions from!

I would suggest getting them on-line, because you might save up significantly, and it's a good idea to always check if the company has current promotions/discount coupon codes.

It's hard for me to promote only one web store, because I did get different sets of hair extensions from different places, and I was eaqually satisfied with the quality of the hair!

I can name one company that is a wholesale hair weave supplier with a long tradition of selling good quality hair extensions at affordable prices (check the link for more info!)

You should also make sure to check the on-line reviews before making your decision!

The great thing about the on-line reviews is that you can actually come across genuine reviews from the actual paying customers, and those are the ones that matter the most!

However, even if I did receive my sets of hair extensions for free, I always made sure to give my honest review!

My policy is not to review the product if it's bad! I stand by my words and can't bring myself to recommend things that I wouldn't normally want to purchase myself!

I can't vouch the same thing for the other bloggers/vloggers, though!

How to take care of your hair extensions?

Your hair extensions will normally arrive with the set of care instructions, but here are some tips that I stick to:

• When washing your hair extensions, you must gradually wet the hair down and brush it gently before you completely wash the hair.
• If the hair is very dry and a lot of water is added at once, it will swell up like a sponge and tangle!

• Make sure to brush the hair often and apply some leave-in conditioners to make the hair soft and moist.
• Store your hair extensions properly, in a right sized box, that will prevent them to get all tangeld up and will preserve them over time!

Hair extensions are fun, I say go for it even if you already have pretty long hair, because they'll make it even more gorgeous!

 They're ideal for the special occasions: You'll feel like a star! ;)

Chanel Eyelash Curler VS Drugstore (Review & Demo!)

Today's post is all about my favourite eyelash curler!
I used to think eyelash curler doesn't really serve and it does absolutely nothing for your eyelashes.

I bought my first eyelash curler in a local drugstore, and, after several attempts of using it, I eventually threw it away, disappointed.

Then, my whole adventure of youtube beauty guru on youtube started, and I found myself convinced that I need to have an eyelash curler in my collection of make up tools :)
I went again to my local drugstore, picked up another eyelash curler (for only 1€), and tried again...at this point I was so frustrated! What was everyone raving about?? Famous beauty bloggers saying that they can't imagine their make up routine without their trusty eyelash curler???

My experience was the total opposite: It was a complete waste of time that gave me no results whatsoever!

because of the way it's shaped, the metal at the top part clashes with my eyebrow bone, and I just can't grab all my eyelashes into the curler :(

My drugstore eyelash curler was once again long forgotten, "collecting the dust" in my make up collection...

But THEN...people started raving about the Chanel (and Shu Uemura) eyelash curlers, as being among the best curlers in the market! As I was unable to get the Shu Uemura one, but also, because I was never disappointed with the Chanel make up, I decided to take another chance (third time's the charm!) and at my local Sephora, I purchased the Chanel eyelash curler!
I had 20% discount code, so the price of it was a bit easier to handle! :)

Once I tried it, I understood what's all the hype about and since then, I really can't imagine doing my eye make up without using my trusty Chanel eyelash curler! ;)

Danas vam donosim recenziju moje omiljene stvarcice u kolekciji make up"alata" :)...govorim o Chanelovom uvijacu za trepavice!

Dugo sam bila uvjerenja da je uvijac za trepavice besmislena i potpuno beskorisna stvarcica. Svoj prvi uvijac za trepavice kupila sam prije puno godina u lokalnoj drogeriji, pokusala ga koristiti par puta i kako jednostavno nije islo, uvijac je prilikom prvog veceg ciscenja zavrsio u smecu!


Nakon sto sam zapocela avanturu beauty bloggera na youtube-u, ponovno sam se uvjerila da je uvijac za trepavice od presudne vaznosti i da ga pod hitno moram nabaviti!
I ponovno sam se zaputila u drogeriju, izabrala novi uvijac (bio je vrlo jeftin, nisam platila vise od 1€!)...ali su rezultati bili katastrofalni: Zbog svoje forme, uvijac se "sudarao" sa mojom strukturom kostiju ocne supljine (ne znam kako da vam to opisem, ali u videu- demonstraciji koju sam vam snimila tocno cete vidjeti o cemu se radi!)tako da jednostavno nisam uspijela skupiti sve trepavice u uvijac i sve se pokazalo poprilicnim gubitkom vremena!

Da li ste i vi ikada imali slican problem sa uvijacima za trepavice??

Uskoro je i ovaj uvijac za trepavice poceo "sakupljati prasinu" u mojoj make up kolekciji...
Nikako mi nije bilo jasno...toliko beauty vloggerica u svojim tutorijalima tvrdi da ne moze zamisliti make up ociju bez svog omiljenog uvijaca za trepavice???
...da bi na pusti otok ponijele svoj uvijac za trepavice??? ;)

Moj zivot i make up rutina tekao je savrseno i bez uvijaca za trepavice...sve dok me kolegice beauty bloggerce nisu zainteresirale za Chanel i Shu Uemura, najhvaljenije uvijace za trepavice!

Buduci da mi Shu Uemura brand nije bio lako dostupan tu gdje zivim, odlucila sam se za Chanel (a i zbog toga sto me njihov make up nikada nije razocarao)..."treca sreca", kako se kaze, pokazala se istinitom uzrecicom!
Cim sam isprobala Chanelov uvijac za trepavice, shvatila sam sto ta mala stvarcica zapravo znaci i koliko mi je potrebna u svakodnevnoj make up rutini!

Svoj Chanel uvijac za trepavice kupila sam u lokalnoj Sephori u Italiji, a imala sam tada kupon za popust od 20% tako da je cijena uvijaca bila laksa za prihvatiti :)

Rezultat koji pruza mojim trepavicama zaista je vidljiv (a primjetiti cete i u video recenziji), trepavice su i bez maskare istaknutije i djeluju duze. Zbog svoje strukture, vrlo lako uvija sve moje trepavice bez poteskoca koje su mi predstavljali uvijaci iz lokalnih drogerija, nepoznatih brandova...

Hello lovelies!

Today's blog post is a little bit different...

I'm bringing you the interview with one of my favourite beauty bloggers, Heidi from Argentina!

Hi Sonja!  Thank you so much for interviewing me for your Blog.  I'm so honored!

Where are you from?

I'm from  Argentina.  But I'm also an Italian citizen and have some German blood too!

My family is from Florence, Italy and Heidelberg Germany :)

What languages do you speak?

Well, being born in Argentina, my first language is Spanish of course!

I attended an English school, so I started learning English ever since I was 2 years old approximately.  I'd like to believe I'm bilingual! I studied French growing up for a couple of years, but I can only read in french, not write or speak, unfortunately. 

Later in high school I learned Italian and I fell in love with it, but I don't always get the chance to use it, so it's a lot more rusted than my English!

How do you think your background influences what you blog/vlog about?

Well, having a multicultural background, double citizenship, European grandparents, attending an English school has always made me feel like a citizen of the world...  Mainly because I don't feel like I'm 100% of any of my nationalities of origins. HaHaHa! To me blogging, vlogging and the internet in general, means communicating with other people like me... like you... people who also have the same multicultural backgrounds! I enjoy using my language skills more frequently, since I blog and vlog in English.  So I guess, my answer, in short would be that Blogging, for me, feels like a natural result of my background.  Does that make sense to you? :)

S: Yes, it does! I don't have a multicultural background, because my entire family is Croatian, with an exception of my Grandfather (my Mum's Dad), who was half-hungarian,( but he also was raised in croatian spirit and culture...)

But I do understand what do you mean because I personally have travelled a lot an lived in foreign countries, and now I live in Italy, and my husband is italian, so I think I can relate to you in some way :)

What's your favorite kind of video to do?

I enjoy covering different subjects on outer and inner beauty, hence the name of my blog TheInsideOutBeauty.com , but all of these have something in common: they revolve around us women.  Our issues, the things we like and enjoy, our dreams, our challenges in life, our confidence...

What inspired you to make YouTube Videos?

I have always been naturally driven and appreciative of art, fashion and beauty in life.

I'm a very sensitive person, probably due to some personal health challenges I had to deal with and overcome right after being born.

I think that having had this experience at such a young age has given me that sensitivity towards beauty in all its forms and also immense gratitude for being alive to contemplate them.

Be it Inner or outer beauty, I have always been able to enjoy and recognize it everywhere.

So, I guess what inspired me, in general term, is this natural need to express the beauty I see in all things and all people. I feel the need to communicate what goes on in my heart and my mind to others, and writing in my blog and making videos has come to fulfill that need.

That's kind of the deep reason behind it I think.

Now, how I discovered the Beauty Community, I guess it was like most of us.  I was researching about some beauty question I had on Google and started watching this Beauty videos and gurus, that I could relate to instantly.  But I gave it a lot of thought before I started blogging and making videos.  I think it took me a year and many personal situations that led me to saying... Ok!  Let's do this and see where it takes me :)

If you had to describe yourself with 5 words... which would those be?

Sensitive.  Creative.  Entrepreneurial.  Dreamer.  Risk-taker (is that 2 words? Ha! :D  ).

How often do you record?

My schedule is quite a mess right now.   But I'm working on it and trying to record and upload at least 2 videos per week.  I update my Blog and tweet every single day though.

How long have you been Blogging and making Youtube videos?

I started about 1 year ago.  I made a couple of blog posts and a couple of videos.

Then privated / deleted the whole thing.  It was the business graduate in me saying... What are you doing girl?  Now I don't see why I was so scared of all of this.  But I encounter girls everyday that say they're hesitant of putting themselves out there, on the internet, too.

Then last November 2012, I experienced a loss... a miscarriage...  and something changed inside me...  it was like I realized life is too short to wait on the things you enjoy doing and that by doing these, we are able to cope with the challenges and losses a lot better... because following our passions helps us heal our spirit... at least I believe that.

So, after New Year 2013, Blogging and Youtube-ing :)  became one of my Resolutions!

I guess I can say I have been doing this consistently for about 3 months to this date. 

S: Thanks Heidi for sharing with us such a deep and private things of your life! I myself have experienced a great loss in 2012.

My Dad died just a few days before my 31.st birthday...I was in shock...I can say that blogging and filming videos for my youtube channels has helped me in staying positive and it kept me going on.

What's your favorite subject for Blogging and Youtube videos?

I don't really have a favorite subject.  It can be anything from a beauty product review, to a self improvement or motivation post/video, a makeup or hair tutorial or a vlog about my personal life.

Whatever I feel is worth sharing, and brings value to my readers and subscribers...  In fact I get lots of video requests all the time and I try to work on each of them as much as possible.

What's your favorite Beauty Brand?

Well, I have to say I like trying out all brands and sticking to the products that work for me, regardless of the brand.  Right now, I'm using Clinique, Benefit, Rimmel and Maybelline products mostly.

What's the post or video you've enjoyed working on so far?

I have favorites in each category.

My fave beauty tutorial is my NAKED Palette Day Look HERE!

I got a lot of positive feedback on that one!  

And also, I'd say my Inner Beauty video, just because it felt really inspired to make it.  I came straight out of my heart.  It was filmed and written by the beach and to this date I think it is my most loved video that explains the name of my Blog and Channel too!

 Many subscribers said it helped them stop and think one minute about their inner worth, and others said they even felt relaxed or soothed by it.  Those are lovely comments to read about something you made yourself with so much love.

Do you have hobbies, other than your interest in beauty?

Yes!  I sing!  I took singing lessons for many years.  I love Opera too, and I can sing a couple of arias :)  I've also written all my life, from thoughts to poems and stories...   Even thogh I'm actually a Business Graduate,  I guess you could say I'm a writer at heart :)
